Seedlings Transition

Ages 22 t0 36 months (semi-Accompanied)

Feeling connected and secure plays a crucial role in supporting students as they transition from accompanied to unaccompanied classes. Seedlings transition classes run every week, for 1.5 hours, during the following time slots:

M, T, W, Th, F: 9.15 - 10.45

Building Relationships

Making friends and building relationships with their teachers gives children a fundamental sense of security, inclusion, and belonging. The Harvard University ‘Centre on the Developing Child’ (2009) explains that, “Children experience their world as an environment of relationships, and these relationships affect virtually all aspects of their development, intellectual, social, emotional physical, behavioral and moral.”

Foundational Learning

During our Seedlings sessions, we aim to lay the foundation for future learning by equipping our students with the necessary tools and skills that will support them in various areas of their later schooling. We place a strong emphasis on developing critical language skills, early numeracy abilities, problem-solving capabilities, social-emotional development, and motor skills. By addressing these key areas, our Seedlings program ensures that students are holistically prepared for their next steps in learning.

Independence and Routine

Children learn best when they believe they can. A focus on building confidence and practical skills such as listening, following routines, taking turns, opening, and closing lunch boxes, dressing, putting on shoes and socks, asking to go the toilet, and asking for help are essential skills for successful children. This element of the Seedlings Transition program plays an essential role in promoting a seamless transition into the student’s next phase of learning.

testimonial

“Wilderness is not only a fantastic kindergarten but a wonderful home away from home for children. Our son joined before he could walk and is about to finish his journey as he moves into his Primary education. We could not thank Wilderness more for the nurturing, caring and loving environment they have created - from the beautiful campus and facilities to the incredible staff who have looked after him, it will always be a very special place to us. Our son’s teachers have always been warm and inviting and supported him through every stage of his young life. Watching him grow from a baby into this young pre-schooler has been such a joy, thanks to all he has learned here. Wilderness is a wonderful community to be a part of and I couldn’t recommend it more.”
